The WEHO Halloween Street Festival - October 31st, 2011 West Hollywood, CA.
- If you like to shoot people (with a camera) and you like those people dressed up, then Halloween in West Hollywood is THE place to be. I have shot at least a half a dozen halloween parties and this one is the best. First of all, it's free! Free and I get along real well. I also like the roomy-ness of the whole street walking thing and the walkiness. No standing around at the bar waiting for something more interesting than whatever the plasma screen is featuring. It's a giant parade of costumes along Santa Monica Blvd for what feels like a quarter-mile. Along the way, there's a few stages with a band, a DJ and eventually a costume contest. For me, I just like street-walking.. So, I just cruise around and look for some people worth capturing. Parking is distant and drinks are hard to find so bring some Cash Cab fare and stuff a bottle somewhere (cool beverages are easy to buy along the route) in your costume and your good to go. I'm not much of a drinker but I had sushi and a a few saki's and I was all warmed up and ready to work.
Thanks to all the who may be checking this site looking for THEIR pics. I shoot alot of pics but do try to get as many of the people I shoot on the page. It doesn't always work out though because I don't ask you to stick around to see if I got a clear shot and there are other things that can wreck what I think is a good photo. I've made a full sweep through all of the pics but I usually make a second pass through the images and usually do find at least one or two more to post. So, feel free to check back after the weekend if you want, I should have a ribbon on this by then. - Andy
